Project Manager

Full Time - Tomorrow Lab seeks a full-time Project Manager to lead projects from development to completion. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, confident, and motivated. They should excel at communication, feedback, and problem-solving, with strong interpersonal skills and adaptability. The PM will work closely with the Company's Partners and foster positive relationships with both clients and TL team members.

Tomorrow Lab, a 15-year-old hardware innovation studio in Brooklyn, NY, collaborates with entrepreneurs and firms of all sizes to invent and prototype new technology products, transforming them into market-ready, manufacturable solutions. This role offers the opportunity to gain immediate impact from the PM’s work through creative problem solving in a fast-paced environment.

    Role Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate across all departments (leadership, admin, finance, HR, ME, EE, ID).
  • Define project scopes with Partners and key staff.
  • Align project budgets and forecasts with Finance.
  • Create department-specific work breakdowns (ME, EE, ID).
  • Build and manage detailed project plans and task sequences.
  • Set objectives and evaluation metrics for all roles.
  • Track project progress, adjust to stay on baseline.
  • Regularly check in with team members and update documentation.
  • Review and revise schedules with staff as needed.
  • Coordinate with HR on staffing and freelance hires.
  • Ensure smooth project closures with deliverables and budgets finalized.
  • Lead internal meetings and attend all client-facing ones.
  • Be available for occasional travel and off-hours work as needed.
    • Role Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal/written communication; track team progress and document clearly.
  • Strong time management, organization, and deadline awareness.
  • Sharp analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2+ years PM experience in art, architecture, design, manufacturing, or engineering required.
  • Self-starter, works well solo and in teams.
  • Tech/hardware experience a plus.
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to NYC.

    Shop Tech Co-Op

    Full Time - Shop Tech Co-Ops support the Tomorrow Lab prototyping process, including managing shop equipment and materials. We seek self-motivated, cross-disciplinary, creative individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy immediate impact from their work.

    Tomorrow Lab, a 15-year-old hardware innovation studio in Brooklyn, NY, collaborates with entrepreneurs to invent and prototype new technology products, transforming them into market-ready, manufacturable solutions. This role offers hands-on experience in hardware design and development, focusing on supporting the build and testing phases of prototypes under the team's supervision.

      Shop Tech Co-Op Responsibilities:
  • Prototype builds and documentation.
  • Component research/ordering and shipments.
  • Performing and documenting product teardowns.
  • Building a Tomorrow Lab teardown library.
  • Maintaining our fabrication equipment.
  • Organizing our materials library.
  • Overseeing 3D printing and laser cutting needs.
  • Spearheading the process for project offboarding/documentation/storage.
  • Collaborating with TL staff, PMs, and partners to engage on client project work.
    • Shop Tech Co-Op Qualifications & Requirements:
  • A background in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Comfortable working with both Mac and PC computers.
  • Be a self-starter and able to work both independently and on teams.
  • Excellent hands-on skills (e.g., model-making, 3D rendering, quick prototyping).
  • Familiarity with various shop tools (e.g., laser cutter, mill, sanders, bandsaw, 3D printers, etc.).
  • A plus if experienced with electrical engineering tools (e.g., soldering iron, power supply, Voltera, etc.).
  • All applicants are required to submit a portfolio showcasing several prior and current projects highlighting their skills and interests. Those without a portfolio will not be considered.
  • At this time, all Co-Ops/Interns must either be willing to relocate or already reside in the NYC area.
  • Start date is flexible; however, at least a 3-month commitment is required, with a 6-month commitment preferred.

  • Internship

    Full Time - Interns at Tomorrow Lab support product development by documenting, researching, prototyping, and sourcing components. They gain practical experience by working on both client and internal projects under team supervision. This is an interdisciplinary role that fuses design and engineering skills.

    Internships start year-round, lasting 4 months to 1 year. Open to senior undergrads, grad students, and recent grads. Non-US citizens can apply but must handle their US Visa process. Preference is for candidates entering their senior year or higher.

      Engineering Internship Qualifications & Requirements:
  • A background in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Software Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical or design-driven field.
  • Comfortable working on Mac and PC computers.
  • Adept at working with their hands.
  • Have an understanding of the industrial design process.
  • Be able to generate form and function prototypes.
  • Possess excellent ideation, sketching and rendering skills.
  • Be a self-starter and able to work both independently and on teams.
  • Interest in learning cross-disciplinary skills, such as mechanical engineers wanting to explore industrial design or electrical engineering, is a big plus.
  • Applicants must provide a portfolio showcasing their past and current work, including CAD samples, hand sketches, prototype photos, design processes, or brief project explanations. Portfolios are required for consideration.

  • Electrical Design Engineer

    Full Time - The Electrical Design Engineer will design, develop, build and test electrical systems in order to produce prototypes for manufacturing for both Tomorrow Lab's wide variety of clients and internal projects. All level (I, II & III) electrical engineers will work closely with Tomorrow Lab's senior department engineers (ID & ME) and senior leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and in scope.

      Electrical Design Engineer Qualifications & Requirements:
  • At least a BS or BE in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science with hardware focus, or related Electronic Design field of study.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years related experience (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Experience in Eagle, Fusion, Arduino, Segger and STM32CubeIDE or equivalent.
  • Comfortable writing firmware in C and C++ programming languages.
  • Experience in design, repair and analysis of electronic systems.
  • Comfortable working on Mac and PC computers.
  • Technical writing skills are a plus.
  • Must be a self starter and able to work independently and on teams.
  • Excellent time management skills in order to prioritize deliverables and timelines.

  • Mechanical Design Engineer

All level (I, II & III) mechanical design engineers will work closely with Tomorrow Lab's senior department engineers (EE & ID) and senior leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and in scope.

      Mechanical Design Engineer Qualifications & Requirements:
  • At least a BS or BE in Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years related experience (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software (Solidworks, Creo or equivalent).
  • Strong physical prototyping skills (model making, 3D rendering, quick prototyping).
  • Must be adept at making things with their hands.
  • Comfortable working on Mac and PC computers.

  • Industrial Design Engineer

    Full Time - The Industrial Design Engineer will assist in the design and development of technology products for both Tomorrow Lab's wide variety of clients and internal projects. The Industrial Design Engineer will be responsible for the form, function and user experience of the products Tomorrow Lab creates, while taking into account user needs and brand language that translate into the physical form. All level (I, II & III) industrial design engineers will work closely with Tomorrow Lab's senior department engineers (EE & ME) and senior leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and in scope.

      Industrial Design Engineer Qualifications & Requirements:
  • At least a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field of study.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years related experience (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
