Dadi is a healthcare brand focused on male reproductive health. Launched in 2019, their premiere product and service is an at-home kit for collecting a sperm sample. Tomorrow Lab helped concept and lead the product strategy, industrial design, mechanical and thermal engineering for the specially designed kit.
The Dadi Kit includes an easy to use sperm collection cup with built-in and preservative dispensing capsule, and state of the art thermal control material built into the walls of the shipping box to keep the specimen at the right temperature for as long as possible while in transit to the processing facility. Compared to other products and services on the market, the Dadi system has far fewer steps and has design simplicity incorporated at every angle.
The Dadi Cup and Cap design is powerful yet simple. The cup is designed with friendly contours and at a size that is both comfortable to hold in one hand yet also large enough interior volume to contain an average sperm sample plus preservative. The double wall design lends a premium feel and weight while also providing additional thermal control to the sperm specimen held inside. The mating cap design creates a fluid-tight seal against the cup and includes a fluid preservative chamber located behind a one-way ‘press to release’ button. Once the user has deposited their sperm sample into the cup, they screw on the cap and press its button to release the preservative fluid into the mix.
The Dadi Box serves multiple purposes at once. First, it is the consumer facing product packaging that the user receives in the mail, containing all necessary components and instructions to use the Dadi service. Second, the box is used as a pre-paid return shipment packaging so the user can send their sperm sample back to Dadi for processing and longterm cryogenic storage. The box magically creates and maintains a thermally controlled environment to safely transport the sperm specimen thanks to specially engineered materials embedded in its walls. The user only needs to put the box inside their refrigerator for a few hours prior to shipping in order to take advantage of the box’s intelligently designed thermal control design.
