“Anti-aging skin-care products, ironically, have an aging problem.” This was the aha moment for our client Liz Whitman, founder of EXPONENT and formerly president and CMO of The Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. Through extensive research, Liz found that many high-end beauty care products lose their effectiveness over time due to decreased stability of active ingredients. So why not mix active ingredients at the point of use and maximize effectiveness? That was the question she came to Tomorrow Lab with. The Self-Activator System we crafted together now lets users easily take control of ingredient mixing for fresh skin care, on-demand, every day.

01 — Mechanical Engineering Strategy

Our efforts focused on ensuring that the liquid & powder elements dispense a reliable, accurate amount of materials every time. The vessel itself is durable and reliable at each registration point. To achieve this we used a singular drive direction with a pin construction and ratchet gear connected to the drive arm. When released, the cap springs back to its original position, leaving the dispenser and mixer in place.
