Accurate, portable CBD oil dispenser

Tync is a portable and discrete CBD oil dispenser cable of accurately dispensing at three dose increments. The founders of Tync approached Tomorrow Lab to create a modern replacement for outdated and inaccurate tincture pipettes commonly used to distribute CBD oil.

The twistable knob at the top of the dispenser provides CBD enthusiasts with precise control of their dosage at three settings: 0.25 mL, 0.5 mL, and 0.75 mL. At the click of a button, the oil is applied sublingually or topically. An easy to remove cap protects the tip from debris during travel. The empty cartridges can be recycled and replaced via shipping or partner locations.

01 — Industrial Design & Product Strategy

Designs coalesced around a pen shape capable of being covered by the palm and a quick button press to dispense. Two designs were developed: a multi-setting basic model and a single-setting premium model. The sleek, elongated form needed to be discreet enough to be hidden yet attractive enough to display. The pen-like form also improves portability over existing boston round bottles. The cartridge system easily dispenses while preventing leaks or spills.

02 —Mechanical Engineering

Early interviews with CBD users stressed the need for dose accuracy and discretion. They wanted a way to benefit from CBD’s calming effect throughout the day while avoiding any social stigma surrounding cannabis by products.

The mechanical solution centered on creating swappable cartridges that can accurately dispense multiple dosages. Control of the dispensed volume is accomplished by a feature in the housing: by changing the length that the thumb button travels, we control the distance the cartridge's internal plunger is displaced. The end result is an option to dispense different amounts of oil depending how far the user presses the button. When the button is released the cartridge returns to a sealed position.
