Rapid All-Teeth Cleaning Device

Starting in 2018, Tomorrow Lab set out with Sympl to create a toothbrush that cleans all your teeth at once. Driven to create the most accessible brushing solution ever, our solution, the SymplBrush, might be the last toothbrush you’ll ever need. It might look strange, but with 20x the bristle coverage, SymplBrush cleans faster (and safer) than any other brush. With the press of a button, SymplBrush addresses a common problem - brushing too little and/or too much. Like a self-driving car, our technology is designed to remove user error. Less burden, more benefit!

In 2024 we introduced the Sympl Brush Jr. to bring our vision of fast, fun, super accessible oral hygiene to our youngest smiles. The updated system now fits mouths of all sizes and provides a better grip for small hands in fun new colors.

01 — Mechanical Concept

We designed a toothbrush that brushes all teeth simultaneously using true bristles, not just vibrating nubs. Through our Holistic Innovation process, we developed a patented folding bristle tray available in four sizes (adult and pediatric) for all mouth sizes, complemented by a hygienic stand and mirror hook for drying.

The key innovation is the 100% recyclable folding bristle tray, which snaps into a stretch-fit cradle and is motor-driven at 10 brushes per second for effective cleaning. Handmade prototypes were refined through R&D and collaboration with factories producing iterative samples.

02 —Accessible Design

The SymplBrush is designed to be accessible and approachable to provide excellent oral hygiene to any user regardless of mobility and range of motion. The pill shape handle design is smooth with a simple concave grip affordance along the top and bottom faces that make it easy to hold and manipulate. The handle’s symmetry ensures it can be gripped and supported in a variety of ways by either a user or a caregiver. To keep things entertaining we chose a set of two-toned color schemes that look at home in any bathroom.

03 —Electronic Strategy

The device has a rechargeable battery located in the handle, which charges with a USB cable. Instead of including an expensive and complex charging stand, we focused on maximizing battery life. The result – SymplBrush and SymplBrush Jr. lasts for up to one month between charges with normal use (twice per day), and charges in just 30 minutes.

The brush has a simple one-button interface. Tap and the timer & indicator lights tell you when to move and flip the device to clean lower teeth. One touch gives you just the right clean; not too little and not too much. SymplBrush will clean your teeth completely, in 30 seconds, without ever hurting your gums.
